Kona Bicycle Company was founded in 1988 in Vancouver, BC, and is one of the original and most enduring names in mountain biking. Born near the technical trails of the North Shore, Kona pioneered progressive frame geometry and helped define freeride culture in the late 1990s, with a lineup that now spans trail, enduro, road, gravel, and commuter bikes sold in more than 60 countries. In 2024, the brand’s original founders re-purchased Kona from Kent Outdoors, restoring it as a fiercely independent company grounded in its founding principles of performance, reliability, and versatility.
