Eurobdalla Shire Council

Located on Yuin Country on the south coast of New South Wales, Eurobodalla offers a highly valued coastal lifestyle within easy reach of Canberra and Sydney. The region is renowned for its natural beauty, from pristine beaches and rivers to lush bushland and forests. The people of the Yuin Nation are the first people of this region, with dhurga-speaking Aboriginal groups maintaining deep cultural and spiritual connections to Eurobodalla’s land and waters.

Stretching along 143 kilometres of coastline, Eurobodalla features three main towns – Batemans Bay, Moruya, and Narooma – and a series of smaller villages. With 83 beaches, 10 national parks, 15 state forests, 20 lakes, and four major river systems, over three-quarters of the shire is open space, offering an enviable balance between natural amenity and community life. The local economy is diverse, with strong health, construction, and retail sectors supported by a thriving tourism industry that welcomes around 1.6 million visitors each year. The shire’s population of approximately 42,000 is projected to grow to more than 47,000 by 2036.

Eurobodalla Shire Council plays a central role in supporting this active community. Based in Moruya, Council provides essential services, maintains key infrastructure, and leads initiatives that enhance the region’s liveability and environmental sustainability. Operational and trade staff work across the shire from depots in Batemans Bay, Moruya, and Narooma, maintaining roads, water and sewer assets, and recreational facilities. Council also manages community facilities including three libraries, the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden, the Dr Mackay Centre, and waste management sites at Surf Beach, Moruya and Dalmeny.

The Eurobodalla region’s commitment to outdoor recreation is exemplified by Mogo Trails – an iconic network of world-class mountain bike trails that weaves through the forests of Mogo. Designed to showcase the area’s natural beauty and cultural heritage, Mogo Trails invite riders to explore Country, connect with community, and experience the adventurous spirit that defines Eurobodalla.
