Where the Kids Ride at Sea Otter Australia!

Bringing the whole family to Sea Otter Australia, of course you are!

Every kid gets a pathway here, from “just let them loose on a bike” all the way to lining up at the start gate next to you. Here’s exactly where your crew fits, mapped out so nobody’s standing around on the day wondering what’s next.

Start here: Pedal and Play

No entry, no pressure, just bikes.

The Scott Pedal and Play is the biggest family zone at the whole festival, modular jump ramps that scale from wobbly-first-go to actually-pretty-sendy! Under the giant Scott inflatable arch, Kylie the Gorilla and the Sea Otter mascot roaming around. You cant miss the Scott Unimog truck for the best photo op of your kid’s year.

Scott is bringing a fleet of Scott & Avanti demo bikes, 12 inch right through to 26 inch, so even if your kid didn’t bring their own bike they’re riding today.

Here’s the bit that makes it worth a daily visit even if they’ve already had a go: Scott is giving away a Roxter kids bike every single festival day, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It’s not a straight raffle either, it’s a game of skill, tell Scott in 25 words or less about your child’s or family’s favourite trail you ride together, and you’re in. Three bikes, three days, and every parent reading this has a story that’ll win it.

Get Pumped At The Velosolutions Pumtrack!

Head over to the Velosolutions Pump Track to keep the momentum going.

Free to ride any time, but it also runs its own competition across all three days if your kid’s feeling brave, the Pump Track Showdown.

Categories run Male, Female and Diverse across U17, Open and 40+, chasing Overall Best Lap Time and Most Number of Laps, plus a judged Style Event for Best Fly Out, Best Air and Best Manual. Yes, your ten-year-old can go up against the adults here, and yes, that’s exactly as much fun to watch as it sounds.

Entry is through the VORLD app.

Next step: Scott Flipper Kids Racing

Once “just riding” isn’t enough anymore, Scott Flipper Kids Racing is where it gets real, and it runs all three festival days at Hanging Rock Sports Precinct.

It’s built just for kids under 12, a lap-based course loaded with timber features and pump action right in the middle of the festival hub, so your kid gets a genuine cheer squad at the start and finish line the whole way through. A real race number, a real start, and every single rider who crosses the line gets a finisher’s medal, guaranteed big smiles all round. You get them sorted on course while you go do your own thing. This is the on-ramp to everything that comes next, and honestly, it’s where a lot of Australian racing careers quietly begin.

Then: the pathway, Rocky Trail Academy and the Schools Championships

If your kid is already at school and wants to take it further, Rocky Trail Academy is the structured next step, a term-time schools series running February to September across five states, twelve rounds building all year.

It all lands at the Sea Otter Australia Schools Championships, held at Mogo Trails the Thursday before the public festival even opens, XC and Enduro formats, students who trained all year racing before most of the crowd has even arrived.

It runs through your kid’s school rather than as a direct family entry, so the way in is getting their school on board.

The finish line: Fox Superflow®

Here’s the part most parents don’t realise: your kid doesn’t have to wait until they’re an adult to end up here. Fox Superflow® is Australia’s biggest gravity enduro series, all ability levels welcome, and Juniors are a genuine part of the field, not an afterthought. Superflow’s are built for families who ride together!

Rocky Trail Academy weekends run alongside most Superflow rounds all year, which is exactly the point, your kid graduates from being sorted at Academy while you race, to lining up on the very same start list as you. At Sea Otter Australia, Superflow runs Saturday and Sunday. Imagine that photo finish!

The family that rides together stays together!

Otter Airtime, for the ones who want to fly

Not every kid wants to race, some just want to jump. Otter Airtime is Sea Otter’s airbag skills coaching, a ramp and an airbag landing pad that let riders learn jumping and trick progression in a genuinely safe, consistent setup, coached by PMBIA-qualified coaches including Shannon Rademaker (PMBIA Level 4). This one’s for kids who already know their way around a bike, riders need solid pressure control and pumping skills, confident front and rear wheel lifts and bunny hops, a stable centred position, and good speed management before they line up, and every bike gets a safety check before the session starts. A jump-style bike is ideal, hardtail, front suspension, single gear, rear brake only, though a safe single-chainring bike will do if that’s what’s in the shed. Full-face helmet to Australian Standard, knee and elbow guards, and enclosed shoes are compulsory on the day.

Riders must be 10 and over, sessions run at $85 per person, three sessions Friday and Saturday (10:30am, 12:30pm, 2:30pm) and one session Sunday at 10:30am. It’s the natural next step once your kid’s outgrown the ramps at Pedal and Play and wants real coaching behind them, and it sits right next to the Otter Jam Freestyle Comp, so there’s a straight line from learning to jump here to watching the pros do it for real.

Watching the big kids

Between their own races, drag the crew over to watch the SMITH Optics Enduro stages at Mogo, and do not miss the Otter Jam Freestyle Comp at Hanging Rock on Sunday, the single most watchable thing at the entire festival if you’re ten years old, and honestly, if you’re forty too.

And of course, be sure to keep an eye on our What’s On at the Expo Calendar, we call it the “Expo Activations” – tons of swag to score, giveaways, prizes and fun comps! You’ll be busy all day!

Whichever step your kid is on right now, they’ll be racing, riding or flying next to a crowd that gets it. Lock in your family’s weekend, this one fills up.
