Not sure which race is actually yours? Forget the schedule for a second, think about the kind of riding that gets your heart racing, and let’s find your discipline.
Gravity Riders
Fox Superflow is Australia’s largest gravity enduro series and it combines epic trails with a relaxed social format. Fox Superflow® at Sea Otter Australia runs across four named Fox tracks carved through Mogo, Fox Track 1 – Cosmic Thunder, Fox Track 2 – Botany Way, Fox Track 3 – Skyway & Currywang, and Fox Track 4 – Lockdown 2.0 & Damview. Ride up untimed with the crew, pick whatever track you’re feeling, no set order, and your fastest time on each stage is what counts toward the result. This is racing built around the phrase “race the way you ride.” Party trains, railing berms, and proper racing, all in the same day. Cruisy day out or absolutely smash your legs, your call. Elite racer, grom or noob, any age, you’ll have a blast.

Want the real test? Step up to the SMITH Optics Enduro, ten stages over two days across Mogo’s most brutal terrain, black and double-black trails that do not forgive a bad line choice. Three of the double-black tracks are riders’ own picks, brought back by popular demand since year one, and two mystery tracks stay under wraps until just 48 hours before racing starts, you won’t know exactly what you’re facing until race week, and that’s exactly the point. Scheduled starts, one run per track, no second chances. Full-face helmet and Australian Standards body protection are mandatory, because this is where the weekend gets serious. If you finish this one upright, you’ve earned every beer that follows.

Not racing but still want gravity? Get trackside for the Otter Jam Freestyle Comp, an invitational, judged freestyle showdown on airbag landings, scored on style, difficulty and execution, riders only, and it is must-watch. If you’d rather learn to fly yourself, Otter Airtime runs 90-minute airbag skills coaching sessions with PMBIA-level coaches, capped at 12 riders with a 1:6 coaching ratio, small groups, real instruction, real progress.
Cross Country Riders
This is traditional marathon racing at its finest. The THULE Marathon kicks off with hundreds of riders surging from the Hanging Rock Event Hub in a mass start, police and lead vehicles escorting you through a 6km rollout, the first 2.5km neutral, before the real racing begins. From there it’s a legendary 27.7km loop through the Mogo Trail network, and you choose your own battle, 1, 2 or 3 laps depending on how far you want to push. This year’s course includes “Alice in Wonderland,” one of Mogo’s most popular tracks, so expect a genuinely hard-fought ride across some of the best trails on the South Coast. You’ll finish on Ridge Road right by the feed and tech zone, then roll back to the Event Hub to celebrate and watch the champions crowned. This is a marathon you won’t forget.

Want it shorter and faster? Strap yourself in for the Shimano XC Crit, a fast and furious 800m course right in the heart of the Sea Otter Australia Event Hub, mixing in epic features borrowed from the eOtterX and Muc-Off Ottercross courses. It’s a guaranteed lung and leg buster that’ll test whether you’ve got the horsepower to match your bravery. This is a short-course XC crit experience you won’t soon forget, and with the whole event hub as your grandstand, the crowd will be right on top of you the entire way.
Gravel Riders
Not every event at Sea Otter Australia is a race, and the MAXXIS Effervelo Gravel Fondo is proof. This is a challenge, not a competition, ride out from the Event Hub and escape into the South Coast’s best gravel country at your own pace, no clock chasing you, no pressure, just the ride. Choose your challenge, Adventure at 50km, or go all-in on the Epic at 70km, all starting and finishing at the Sea Otter Australia Event Hub. You’ll ride through the renowned Mogo Trail network before crossing the Princes Highway into the wide-open Mogo and Bolaro State Forests, with well-stocked feed and hydration stations keeping you fuelled the whole way. Bring a mate, bring the family, this one’s about the experience, not the result.

Want more of a spectacle instead? Muc-Off Ottercross is unlike any Cyclo-Cross race in Australia, the nation’s only beachside CX event, set against the stunning backdrop of Batemans Bay Marine Park. Forget a typical CX course, this one takes the action straight to the sand, a mass start along a 400m stretch of pristine beach, weaving right through the heart of the Sea Otter Australia Event Hub. Racers are grouped into grades based on National and State results, so it’s a genuinely competitive field, and the atmosphere for both riders and spectators is second to none. Sand, salt air, and Cyclo-Cross tradition meeting coastal beauty, this one is pure theatre.

Juniors
The next generation gets its own stage all weekend at Scott Flipper Kids Racing, an awesome event built just for kids under 12. It’s a lap-based course packed with cool timber features and pump action, right in the middle of all the festival action at the hub, so your kid races with a huge cheer squad at the start and finish line the whole way. Every single rider who crosses the finish line gets a finisher’s medal, guaranteed big smiles all round. Before the festival even kicks off, the Sea Otter Australia Schools Championships brings students together across four distinct tracks built for every kind of rider: Track 1, Short Flow, on Cosmic Thunder, Track 2, Long Flow, across Sky Way and Botany Way, Track 3, the Tech Track, through Lockdown 2.0 and Currywang, and Track 4, the Pedal, on Constant Support. It’s a genuine test of endurance, speed and technical ability, and if you’re raising the next big name in Aussie racing, this is where it starts.

eBike Riders
Get ready for electrifying action with eOtterX – Bosch ePowered. Four riders line up for head-to-head battles on a technical lap, right in the heart of the Sea Otter Australia Event Hub. This format was created by the Huntingtons, the racing, shredding, world-travelling power-couple and family who know eMTB racing better than anyone, and the custom-built track at Sea Otter Australia was designed by Rocky Trail’s own Race Director Bob Morris alongside Randal Huntington. Riders get seeded via a time trial, then it’s straight into a knockout format where only the fastest advance. Expect elbows-out racing, gnarly features to conquer, and the ultimate test of rider skill and eBike performance. It’s the only race of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, a genuine crowd favourite, and once you’ve watched a heat you’ll understand exactly why, all building to crowning the eOtter Four Cross champion.

Whichever discipline is yours, you’re taking on Mogo Trails and the Festival Hub in front of a crowd that gets it. Find your event, lock in your spot, and don’t sleep on it, entry fees jump on 1 October.
