We’re stoked to launch the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) at Sea Otter Australia!
NICA’s mission is simple but powerful: to build strong minds, bodies, character and communities through cycling. Guided by core values of Fun, Equity, Inclusivity, Respect and Community, NICA is more than racing—it’s about giving every young rider a place to belong in a community that encourages and supports them.
Through inclusive, team-based programs, NICA empowers youth to build strong bodies, minds, and character, while promoting a lifelong love for cycling and outdoor adventure. With a focus on fun, safety, and community, NICA’s mission is to create opportunities for all students to experience the joy and camaraderie of mountain biking, regardless of ability or background.
The National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) started in Berkeley, California, USA in 2009. It has since expanded across the United States and now supports a network of over 25,000 young riders and 15,000 adult coaches. The goal? Reimagine youth sports and ensure that all kids have a place to ride, make friends, grow and challenge themselves, and lead a healthy lifestyle – all while discovering a lifelong love of cycling.
We’re excited to bring this vision and NICA programs to Australia.

Be sure to join our photo treasure hunt where you’ll explore the expo, connect with top bike brands, and help us celebrate the movement to #GetMoreKidsOnBikes. – Check in at the NICA Booth to get all the details and your scavenger hunt flyer. The Sea Otter Side Quest will run each day at the Expo Hub and the prize draw will be at 1pm on Sunday 26 October!
